Live at Long Beach is a live album by the British band Deep Purple featuring a recording of the MKIV line—up performing at the Long Beach Arena, California, USA, on February 27, 1976 as part of a tour in support of the album Come Taste the Band.
It was originally published in 1995. In the USA — under the name King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents: Deep Purple in Concert, in the UK and Japan — as On the Wings of a Russian Foxbat [there is a difference in both content and mastering]. A ten-track version was released in 2000 under the title Extended Versions. The concert was restored and re-released in 2009.
The recording of the performance was conducted by the radio station "King Biscuit Flower Hour". The performance is considered one of the best concerts of the Coverdale—Bolin—Hughes—Lord Pace line-up. The recording was supplemented with a fragment of a performance in Springfield, Massachusetts, USA, a month earlier — initially, King Biscuit planned to air a performance in Springfield, but the recording turned out to be of inadequate quality. Please note that in the track listing of CD 1, "The Grind" is quoted as being performed - this is incorrect, since it is Bolin's song "Homeward Strut" from his solo album Teaser.
