Dignified is the album that Son Lewis has been waiting to record for some time. It contains new and exciting original material and a dip into the great American songbook for tunes that have inspired him as a performer and composer since his earliest days. "Gone Dead Train", originally done by Crazy Horse (Neil Young's backup band) and Randy Newman (in the soundtrack of the film "Performance") is a country-funk rocker that opens the new CD. In "Dignified", the title tune, Son offers a "tip of the fedora" to Mississippi John Hurt. "OnStar Blues" tells the age-old story of "where has my baby gone" BUT with a modern technological tilt toward satellite and cellular tracking. In "The Dream", Lewis' lead guitar is added to the wonderful instrumental melody composed with beat-master Lanre Odunla... a true departure for him! "Love In Vain" was recorded live at the Splatter Concert Series when Son opened up for Pop music icon Peter Tork (formerly of the Monkees) and more traditional Delta-style Blues come foward in Matchbox Blues, Stop Breaking Down, You Got to Move and Walking These Troubles Away. In all, 14 songs that move or groove you... 14 chances to connect with your inner self (or inner beast....lol)... So belly up to the speakers and enjoy....!
